Once upon a time when immigrants came to Europe and North America, they were expected to learn the national language. They were expected to abide by all the national laws and to internalize them as right and good. They were supposed to put aside and even forget some of the political and religious conflicts that in many cases made them leave their country of birth. And finally, they were expected to recognize that the human rights and freedoms of Western democracies were better than what they left behind in the authoritarian regimes of their homelands.   Now all this has changed!

Our “progressive” political élites, afraid or unwilling to identify good from badbelieve that people coming to the West can and should keep their own culture, whatever it is.  In Canada, this is officially called “multiculturalism”.  Shortly after Canada adopted multiculturalism, the French government began to apply it to deal with its massive immigration from Muslim countries, such as former French colonies in North and West Africa.  This has resulted in the creation of “No-Go Zones”, a key factor in the rise of the home grown terrorism that now plagues France, as well as the rest of Western Europe. The recent mass migration of people from authoritarian Muslim countries like Syria whose values are diametrically opposed to Western democratic values, will no doubt only add to the growth of “No-Go-Zones.”

Here is an article co-authored by our Executive Director, Geoffrey Clarfield, and Salim Mansur, a Mozuud Fellow and Professor of Political Science at the University of Western Ontario, demonstrating how the European love affair with multiculturalism and the subsequent creation of no-go zones has contributed to the terror we are witnessing today.
